Youth Leadership Development Program

The YLDP is designed to assist students, who are chosen for their demonstrated character, in developing leadership skills. Because of the large number of YLDP High School Partners involved, the YLDP has great diversity within the student body. The YLDP has diversity of gender, race, ethnicity, religious belief, economic background, and academic achievement.

The YLDP is a model of and for tomorrow’s America, where diversity is treasured as one of its greatest resources.

The YLDP is a nine-month Program that begins in September and ends in May. It conducts monthly meetings that start at 4:30 p.m. and end no later than 7:30 p.m. Typically, students sign in upon arrival. Each monthly meeting has a special guest speaker for approximately 60 minutes, which includes questions and answers. This is followed by a student group lesson focusing on faith, character, and/or patriotism. Active student participation is a part of each lesson.

Every meeting concludes with students coming together to discuss group ideas, conclusions, and opinions. Students sign out before leaving. The student groups are specifically designed to include all aspects of the diversity within the YLDP and are assigned for the entire year.

CSM Bennie Adkins Foundation

The Bennie Adkins Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose aim is to carry on the legacy of Bennie Adkins by providing educational scholarships to Special Forces soldiers. Our hope is to reward deserving soldiers who have demonstrated the courage, sacrifice, and patriotism inherent in the Special Forces, and aid them as they continue trying to improve themselves through education. We strongly feel that providing scholarships to the soldiers will assist as they transition out of the military and into civilian life

Bennie Adkins served this country for more than twenty years in the United States Army, the majority of his time spent in Special Forces (Green Berets). He was deployed to Vietnam three times, and during his second deployment was involved in heroic efforts which eventually led to the awarding of the Medal of Honor in 2014. After his retirement at the rank of Command Sergeant Major he continued his education, eventually obtaining his Bachelor’s degree and two Master’s degrees from Troy University.

He then established his own accounting firm and operated for 22 years until retirement. It is this legacy of service, sacrifice, and commitment that we look to continue by offering educational assistance through scholarships to Special Forces soldiers.

Walk for Warriors

The “Walk For Warriors” is an annual event created by the Youth Leadership Development Program (YLDP). It is the first of three annual Patriotism Events sponsored by the YLDP in November each year to honor veterans and celebrate patriotism.

The “Walk For Warriors” is a 5k walk held each year on the first Saturday in November. All students in the YLDP are assigned to a “company” named in honor of a Medal of Honor recipient. The mission of each company is to raise money exclusively for the “CSM Bennie Adkins Foundation”, with every student being challenged to raise a minimum of $100. In essence, this endeavor is juniors and seniors in high school raising money for active “Green Berets” to continue their education by receiving scholarships from the “CSM

Bennie Adkins Foundation”.

The “Walk For Warriors” is open to the public and welcomes contributions from “Patriot Sponsors” who desire to thank those who keep us safe and protect liberty at the risk of life.

No matter the amount given, every contribution is gratefully appreciated, with the assurance that your generosity will provide an American Warrior with the opportunity to continue their education and better his or her life.

Please consider being a “Patriot Sponsor” in support of our great “Green Berets” today!
